Back from a much-needed vacation Monday, Feb 26 2007

I just returned from a vacation to Joshua Tree in southern California. There is some amazing scenery in the national park there – lots of interesting rock formations, not to mention the joshua trees themselves, which the park and the town are named after. It was definitely inspiring, and I took lots of pictures to jog my memory for interesting colors, shapes, and textures. Here’s a picture of a joshua tree, with some nice scenery in the background. Also, because this blog is supposed to be about my daily jewelry making, a not-so-great photo of a new earring design I made (there will be a matching pendant, but it doesn’t exist yet…)

Another knitting week… Monday, Feb 19 2007

I’ve definitely become obsessed with knitting and crocheting – and this week I started working on designing some crocheted accessories. Here are a couple pictures of crocheted jewelry – a choker and a (really bad picture of) a bracelet.

The bracelet is a ruffled cuff, and could also be used as an edge for a sleeve. The necklace is an edging technique made in a choker length. I plan to attach a nice ribbon to tie in a bow when wearing it.

I also made some “regular” jewelry from metal and pearls this week. Here’s a pendant and an earring.

Highlights from the past week Sunday, Feb 11 2007

I’ve been knitting this week – which means I’ve basically been working on the same project every day. I did make a few pieces of jewelry too though – here are pictures of the ones I thought were worth photographing. The discs with pearls are drilled at the top, so they can be attached to earwires or a pendant bail. I think I’ll do sets of three of each style, so that I can have matching earring/pendant sets.

Catching up Tuesday, Feb 6 2007

I’ve had some problems getting pictures over the past week – right in the middle of photographing pieces from the end of January, a fire alarm went off in my studio building – the cafe downstairs had burned something – so we had to evacuate. It reminded me a little of living in the dorms in college, when burned microwave popcorn would cause evacuations at 3:00 am. Anyway – here are some of the pictures.
